FOR THE LOVE OF LIFE
If I die today, i hope that i would already be emptied
of all that I know.
It hurts that people are constantly ‘cut short in their prime”
It is not just in violence, it is in the eyes of the hungry, malaria stricken children,
poverty embraced people.
Often i see the anger of those left behind, when they consider what they could have done to avert death, be it those spectators at the gruesome murder of the ALLU4or the parents who watch their kids become slaves to alcohol and other vices or even the relatives who give more to their dogs than to fellow humans.I never want to be on that bridge somewhere between life and death suffering painyet struggling for life as many have.I do not want to watch my skin burn and change colour while praying for God to send rain to soothe me.For the love of life, I want to live and if I must die for lessons to be learned, let me depart peacefully, emptied of my knowledge and leaving no doubts behind.
For the second time in my life i followed the elections of another country religiously. Not just because I have a special respect for the man Obama but because I like that there is actually something to follow. In my country Nigeria, we have elections but everyone including the candidates can testify that they are never fair. We have even had ex- convicts contest for positions. One of the things that got to me the most was the presidential debate, I remember that in 2011, the president of Nigeria who was also a candidate boycotted one of the presidential debates and still went ahead to win the elections. The governance of this Nation hurts me. People just leave their houses after amassing a level of wealth and begin to run for positions they have no business running for. It is a shame.
I have read the history of american politics and they did not take these many steps backward before they got to where they are today. Nigerians really have to take responsibility and make sure that this country moves forward! We cannot continue to be bothered about people who are more concerned about cassava bread than the security of the people. Or people who are more concerned about banning contraceptives than providing malaria treatment. the government of Nigeria negotiates with terrorists and in secret probably funds them. One only needs to take a look at the budget of this country to see how much the government has no regard for the people’s intelligence. I just hope that we would see a difference in 2015.
Unconditional Love
Okay so i just got thinking very early this morning….like very very early (i couldn’t sleep)….not like i had nightmares or anything :| …. It just crossed my mind to attempt to define what the term ‘unconditional love’ should really mean. It certainly is not and can not be comprehensible by humans as the best a man/woman can do is to either love their own child, friends, associates or family to death, or spouse, so much that they can give all they have to them or be able to ”do anything” for them …. but that still doesn’t do justice to the term ‘unconditional love’….
Personally, i believe it has to do with not just being able to give all that you have or being able to do anything humanly possible for those that you love or those closest to you either by virtue of family or friendship, but being able to do these same things mentioned and by a far greater measure to people who are actually undeserving of it or totally unknown to you or (this is my favourite), people who CAN NOT PAY YOU BACK!
Anyway, long story short, i believe the only true source of unconditional love is…..wait for it….GOD! Exemplified by His sending of his only son to die for an ungrateful, sinful, undeserving, wretched and very much mortal humans like my Ancestors and of course myself :( …. It certainly is one of the most un-doable feats ever recorded and i think if anything at all, the term ‘UNCONDITIONAL LOVE’ may just be able to do justice to that singular action.
if wishes were horses
i really ddo not underrstand what whoever first said ‘if wishes were horrses, everyone would have them’ meant…because the horses i see around me these days cost about a mill…..im talking naira though but im sure wherever you are in the world right now, horses are not exactly cheap or affordable stuff…i hope im not being ignorant here so il leave room for anyone who has deep insights as to why that statement was made to enlighten probing minds like mine :)
talk about accomplishment
when can we say a man is truly accomplished … does this have anything to do with fulfillment? satisfaction maybe?? or better still success ?? just my thoughts :)
